It makes sense to make your web site user friendly by telling a story everyone will understand... Most websites talk about the attributes of a product or service using terms that are not familiar to a first time user...
How many times has a friend or family member told you that they didn't know you sold 'such & such' or they would have bought it from you? Yet the same person gets excited as he tells you about a good movie; wouldn't you like the same enthusiasm when some is recommending your product?
A Story for success
Possibly a story of how you actually 'helped' someone will have a lot more impact on the first time user... Recently a Realtor asked if I could do something to make their website different than the same old, same old... I started asking questions... Her Dad was an architect and she had always been fascinated with structures on the water... Plus she lived on the water and owned a pontoon boat... This was all that was needed to give her creditability with the first time reader interested in waterfront property...
Paint a picture
The human mind only sees pictures, paint the picture and your reader will remember and tell your story. What could be more appealing for a buyer then spending an afternoon on the water looking for their future home while sipping ice tea? Add a picture of a family on the boat... You get the picture... Every time the reader comes in contact with friends who are interested in waterfront property they will tell your story...
